Response to The Starry Night

When we first read this poem as a class i thought " wow this persons a phsyco" . It turns out the person was infact in a crazy home. But other than seeing that, I also started to see a picture in my head. The picture was stars in a dark sky with a moon poking out from the corner. Then i started to see it as a literal thing , the line that says "sucked up by that great big dragon, to split" i saw a dragon painted big in the middle surrounded by the village.
It turns out i was kind of right. There was starsand there was a moon and there was a village. But that big dragon that i had seen wasnt actually a dragon; it was a black castle. From seeing the painting , the poem didnt seem the same in my head anymore. it seemed as iff everything in the painting was bad and dark. Other than before when i thought it was just a deep dark night like we have here in brooklyn.
I liked how the author used a dragon to represent the crazy home that he was in because it sort of made me feel his pain. By comparing that crazy home to a dragon , your saying that its scary, dangerous and dark. I think that was a very strong and smart way of showing his pain and fright in that place. That was a great metaphor.
